I transferred to Rice in 2023, from Lone Star College Montgomery. Originally, I was planning to major in neuroscience, but soon after transferring realized that my interest in the subject rested primarily at its borders: its philosophical foundations/implications and its engineering applications. Luckily, Rice makes personalizing your education very feasible, and when I learned that the electrical engineering department offered a neuroengineering specialization as part of the undergraduate major, I elected to pursue my current degree plan. Rice is an intellectually rigorous environment that aims to challenge its students to an extent they likely never have been. It also wants to support them in confronting this challenge in whatever ways it can, though, and rewards the humble pursuit of an ambitious and unconventional path.
