Chemical Engineering • Baker College • 1st year at Rice

Hi everyone, my name is AJ, and I’m a first-year Bakerite majoring in Chemical Engineering. I started out at Lone Star College-University Park, where I got deeply involved in research on water quality and renewable energy through an REU, in-class research, and Take Flight, and I’m excited to keep building on that here at Rice. Long-term, I hope to work internationally in clean energy, using engineering to address energy poverty and resource challenges. My best advice is to stay open to all opportunities; the ones that feel a little outside your comfort zone often end up being the most rewarding.
